/me blows off the dust

Well, it's been a while since I las updated. After going for gourdcore, I guess i just forgot, but a post in the forums reminded me and I figured I may as well keep this updated again. A fair amount's happened since the last time I updated, so I guess I'd better post a list of my hardcore permanent skills...

Lunging Thrust-Smack (HP)
Claws of the Otter (HP)
Claws of the Walrus (HP)
Eye of the Stoat (HP)
Empathy of the Newt (HP)
Tenacity of the Snapper (HP)
Amphibian Sympathy (HP)
Pastamastery (HP)
Leash of Linguini (HP)
Springy Fusilli (HP)
Advanced Saucecrafting (HP)
Mad Looting Skillz (HP)
Overdeveloped Sense of Self Preservation (HP)
The Moxious Madrigal (HP)
Fat Leon's Phat Loot Lyric (HP)
Summon Snowcone (HP)

Since the snowcone ability came out, it's done me wonders, and I really recommend anyone going for hardcore to get a Tome, even though they're pretty expensive right now. Anyhow, today I ascended into a moxie sign Accordion Thief. It pobably won't be a speedy run, and I might not use the chest of the Bonerdagon since I want to make my NPZR, but the upcoming moxie days will help me out.

Anyhow, the day started off well. Autoselling my pork gems and getting a larva early let me train up my ADDemon (even though it's a crappy day to train a familiar from 6 lbs) and get my smile sharpening stone for my Cheshire Bat. There aren't any clovers at the hermitage again today, but since I started with an accordion I was able to use Madrigal through the Tavern... which took 20 turns to get to the Faucet. I decided I'd carry on to fight Baron von Ratsworth anyway, since the monocle's great, and found him on square 24 of the cellar.

I was level 4 by that point, so I trained up my myst to 8 in Degrassi Knoll to be able to use a Lunging Thrust-Smack on the Baron. I also hadn't spent that much meat from my initial autoselling, and I had 20 rat whiskers to sell for the Artist, so I went and quickly got the things for him and sold them for 1000 meat. This and the earlier meat let my buy Cletus' Canticle of Celerity (after passing my guild challenges, of course), which I needed since I wanted to get the jump on the Baron and didn't have the max MP to cast Springy Fusilli yet. After spending a bunch on soda waters I had Canticle cast, bought a sweet ninja sword and switched to my inflatable dodecapede, ready to fight the Baron; the fight went smoothly, I got the jump and felled him with a single LTS. I didn't need my dodecapede to attack at all, and I was silly and forgot to cast Tenacity on myself, so I consider it a lucky win.

Anyway, after that I turned off the rat faucet, getting my 3 drinks and shiny ring. I couldn't equip the ring yet, but I knew the drinks would come in useful over the next few days. I figured it would be best if I got my meatcar at this point, letting me get to the beach and to the micromicrobrewery, where I could drink IPAs to my heart's desire. Luckily, the toolbox that I got earlier, while training for the Baron, had gotten me a meat tank already. I had all my engine parts moments later, and sewered for a trinket so i could get my rims. Now all I needed was my tires...

It took far too long for a tirejuggler to even appear. I managed to even get enough parts for a second meat engine, and a frilly skirt, and even a wig. I even ate 3 of the knoll mushrooms that dropped and drinking 2 ice-cold beers to get enough adventures, but eventually the elusive tirejuggler appeared and gave me a set of tires. I pasted my meatcar together, went to the brewery and drank IPAs. I had really bad luck, most of them only giving me 4 adventures, but the last gave me 8. I was close enough to level 5 that I might just be able to eat a reagent pasta today, but first I had to get there.

I decided I'd take a quick detour to Fernswarthy's Tower before going to the Bat Hole, since I figured I had enough parts for a meat maid, less the skull and brain, so it was worth making one. I encountered a brainsweeper early, but it didn't drop, then I remembered that I ahd a blue snowcone I could use. I turned my tongue blue and buffed myself with Phat Loot, went in there again and got a brain from my first brainsweeper. So far so good.

Then I went to the Bat Hole. I didn't have any stench resistance, since I don't have elemental saucesphere, so I had to farm an air freshener. With my blue tongue and Phat Loot, however, I found one quickly and moved on to Guano Junction. I managed to find one of my sonars-in-a-biscuit when I hit level 5 and got access to Cobb's Knob. I was running low on adventures (I had eaten a couple of fruit from some fruit golems I'd encountered in Fern's Tower) so i decided to go make a reagent pasta for today. Again my buffs helped me get an early drop, found a knob sausage in 2 adventures. Then I bought my oven, enough soda waters to summon a reagent and a noodles, and cooked my spaghetti with Skullheads. I had 5 meat left.

After eating the SwS, I went to the Misspelled Cemetary to get my smart skull. I was lucky, it dropped from the first smart skelton I came across, in only a few adventures. I think it was 3, I forget. I made another meat stack, put together a meat maid (a rare thing in hardcore, but it all came out just right) and used her. She's sitting in my campground now, ready to give me 3 adventures tomorrow.

Then I went back to the bat hole and got my last 2 sonars and a broken skull. Unfortunately, I didn't get a baseball, but I'll just have to go back if I need one for the tower guardians. I went straight to the Harem and got an early perfume. Nice! Unfortunately, I didn't ahve enough meat left to buff myself, so I went to the treasury for a few turns to get some, getting my lab key in the process. I went back to the harem, got my veil and a second perfume from combat, and got the pants from a choice adventure. I only had a few adventures left, so I decided to get some more funds from the treasury and see if I couldn't take out the Boss Bat and the Goblin King already.

After spending a short while in the treasury, I had 6 adventures left to slay both bosses. Plenty of time. I spent meat like crazy and buffed myself with Tenacity, Fusilli, Empathy, Leash and Madrigal, equipped my flyswatter, and went in to fight the Boss Bat. I got the jump and he went down in 1 LTS, as I expected. Then I put on my harem outfit, sprayed perfume and went to see the Goblin King.

He got the jump on me and beat me up in one hit. Damn, I should have used Canticle again. I went and shored off my 3 adventures of beaten up, rebuffed Madrigal and put on Canticle too. I only got ice cubes from my shore trip, but I put them in my offhand as I went to fight the Goblin King again. For those not keeping track, this was my last adventure of the day, my last chance to have him today. Lucky I got that second perfume. Anyhow, I got the jump on him and he went down in one LTS aswell, giving me the Crown and his meat stacks. Finally, i drank a slap and tickle that I'd gotten from the Tavern.

I'm happy with my performance today. Everything was by the skin of my teeth, from getting to the brewery to eating that reagent pasta to defeating the Goblin King. I also got one of my 5 obligatory shore trips out of the way, which is a help in the long run. I'm not doing as well as the real speed ascenders, one of my clannies with far more hardcore skills than I managed to get Liver of Steel today for example, but considering that it wasn't a stat day at all, and there aren't any clovers, I think I did well.

More updates tomorrow!

Day 5

To be honest, I can't be bothered to adventure today. No idea why. Oh well, I ate and drank already (didn't log, oh well) and opened my advent calendar, got myself a gingerbread bugbear today.

I guess I'll use my adventures tomorrow. See ya.

Day 6

Again, I'm too lazy/tired to play adventures, but I guess I have to play some of them, including all the ones I'll get from eating and drinking, or I'll lose them.

4 adventures - cooking - acquired items: fettucini Inconnu (2) (173 adventures remaining)
Ate 2 fettucini Inconnu...s, goat cheese pizza - gained 26, 28, 8 adventures (235 adventures remaining)
Drank 6 Infinitesimal IPAs, Imp Ale - gained 4, 4, 6, 6, 5, 6, 1 adventures (267 adventures remaining)
Mafia'd [some] adventures - The Valley beyond the Orc Chasm - acquired items: [some stuff] ([some] adventures remaining)

Day... something

Yeah, I lost track of how long I've not been adventuring. I'll post an update once I hit the sorc, but I won't be making it a speed run, so I won't log any more.

Hey, I can finally go get gourdcore. As a muscle class. And you wouldn't want a report on all that. It'd be 2 lines a day, heh.

Well, it's another muscle day, and it's another day with a crappy drink at the brewery (strawberry daiquiri) so it's another IPA day. Time to do the usual eating, drinking and Dungeoning.

6 adventures - cooking - acquired items: spaghetti with Skullheads (2), spicy bean burrito (130 adventures remaining)
Ate 2 spaghetti with Skullheads, spicy bean burrito - gained 24, 23, 11 adventures (188 adventures remaining)
Drank 6 Infinitesimal IPAs, Imp Ale - gained 6, 4, 5, 8, 5, 5, 2 adventures (223 adventures remaining)
8 adventures - Daily Dungeon - acquired an item: Sneaky Pete's Key (215 adventures remaining)

Grr, a key I already have. Oh well, it's not like I'll ascend today, I'll have more chances to grab that elusive Boris's key. For now, it's back to the mines, then the rest of the McLargeHuge quest, if I can.

18 adventures - Itznotyerzitz Mine - acquired items: miner's pants (2), miner's helmet, 7-Foot Dwarven mattock (197 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - Itznotyerzitz Mine (in disguise) - acquired items: meat stack (3) (194 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - The Shore (moxie trip) (191 adventures remaining)
4 adventures - Itznotyerzitz Mine (in disguise) - acquired items: asbestos ore, linoleum ore, chrome ore (187 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - The Shore (moxie trip) - acquired item: barbed-wire fence (184 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - Itznotyerzitz Mine (in disguise) - acquired items: chrome ore, linoleum ore (181 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - The Shore (muscle trip) (178 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - Itznotyerzitz Mine (in disguise) (177 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - The Shore (muscle trip) - acquired item: dinghy plans (174 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - Itznotyerzitz Mine (in disguise) - acquired items: chrome ore, asbestos ore, linoleum ore (171 adventures remaining)
The L33t Tr4pz0r - acquired item: linoleum sword
38 adventures - The Goatlet - acquired items: goat cheese (6), glass of goat's milk (3), goat beard, bottle of whiskey (7) (133 adventures remaining)
The L33t Tr4pz0r - acquired items: goat cheese pizza (3)
8 adventures - The eXtreme Slope - acquired items: eXtreme mittens, t8r tots, Mountain Stream soda (2), snowboarder pants, eXtreme scarf (125 adventures remaining)
The L33t Tr4pz0r - acquired items: yeti fur (5)

Got that quest done with 125 adventures to go, not too bad, though it took far too long to get those goat cheeses. One of the things I should do before hitting level 9 is getting the pirate outfit. Since I already have the plans, I just need to get the planks to get to the island, then get the outfit. After that, I'll do some training... somewhere.

4 adventures - The Sewer - acquired items: saucepan (2), mariachi pants, worthless trinket (121 adventures remaining)
The Hermitage - acquired item: dingy planks
12 adventures - The Obligatory Pirate's Cove - acquired items: snakehead charrrm, swashbuckling pants, sunken chest, eyepatch, bottle of rum, stuffed shouder parrot (109 adventures remaining)

I think the pirates might be the best pace to train, or the goats. Since the goats don't have choice adventures, they're the better area.
Oh, and I'm not doing the eXtreme slope both because choice/stat adventures get in the way, and I'm not quite strong enough to reliably take them out in one hit. Stupid muscle class no shillelagh grumble grumble...

27 adventures - The Goatlet - acquired items: glass of goat's milk, goat beard, bottle of whiskey (3), goat cheese (4) (82 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - The Sewer - acquired items: worthless knick-knack, scroll of turtle summoning, helmet turtle (79 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - The Goatlet - achieved level 9, acquired item: goat beard (78 adventures remaining)

Finally! And after being beaten up just before getting there too, grr. Still, I reckon I'll need that trinket later, so it's all good I guess. Now I'll go get the strage leaflet, and have a shot at the Bonerdagon. I fully expect to get my ass kicked, but it's worth a shot.

1 adventure - The Haert of the Cyrpt - acquired items: skull of the Bonerdagon, chest of the Bonerdagon (77 adventures remaining)

Great. Now I've gotten the boosts from the leaflet and the chest (and the badass belt), I feel more confident taking on the Valley. And so I shall, oh indeed I shall! But first to get the dictionary... and hopefully not drunk. Damn having drunk to 19 already.

2 adventures - The Obligatory Pirate's Cove (in disguise) - acquired item: abridged dictionary (75 adventures remaining)
The Untinker - acquired items: bridge, dictionary
29 adventures - The Valley beyond the Orc Chasm - acquired items: meat vortex (5), lowercase N, draggin' ball hat (2), Dyspepsi-Cola (3), 334 scroll (4), Tasty Fun Good rice candy (3), 33398 scroll (2), Spam Witch sammich (2), 30669 scroll (2), Trollhouse cookies (2), flaming talons, pr0n legs, f3d0r4 (46 adventures remaining)
64735 scroll - acquired items: dictionary, drywall axe

Now that I've done that and gotten a bunch of meat from autoselling the dictionary, I can... carry on training at the Valley. Gah.

12 adventures - The Valley beyond the Orc Chasm - acquired items: meat vortex, Trollhouse cookies (2), Dyspepsi-Cola (2), 334 scroll (3), Tasty Fun Good rice candy (2), draggin' ball hat, 33398 scroll (34 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury - acquired item: Knob Goblin elite polearm (31 adventures remaining)
6 adventures - The Valley beyond the Orc Chasm - acquired items: pr0n legs, lowercase N, Trollhouse cookies, 334 scroll (26 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury (23 adventures remaining)
23 adventures - The Valley beyond the Orc Chasm - acquired items: Tasty Fun Good rice candy (3), 33398 scroll (2), Spam Witch sammich (2), Trollhouse cookies, meat vortex (4), Dyspepsi-Cola, flaming talons, lowercase N, 334 scroll (2), 30669 scroll (0 adventures remaining)

Too tired at this point to make an end of day comment. Bye!

Muscle day! Hooray! And I have a hellion cube just waiting to be cooked up! So, it's time to eat, drink and hit the Dungeon. Out of a sense to relay this, for some reason, today's boozy special is white Canadian, which is not as good as the IPA, so I'll be drinking bog-standard IPAs today.

Drank 6 Infinitesimal IPAs, Imp Ale - gained 4, 6, 7, 7, 5, 7, 2 adventures (162 adventures remaining)
6 adventures - cooking - acquired items: Hell ramen, spaghetti with Skullheads, spicy bean burrito (156 adventures remaining)
Ate Hell ramen, spaghetti with Skullheads, spicy bean burrito - gained 24, 29, 7 adventures (216 adventures remaining)
8 adventures - Daily Dungeon - acquired item: Sneaky Pete's key (208 adventures remaining)

Huzzah, another key rather than a damn earring! So, now that I have to train to level 7, I figure the best place is the Lab, since my LTS sucks at the moment without +melee damage and I get meat at a fair rate there. I'll see if I can keep leash on, which will be easier after getting that 30th myst point and equipping the solitaire, and see if I can raise the 6k needed to buy tenacity, get my LTS damage up a bit.

4 adventures - Knob Goblin Laboratory - achieved level 7, acquired item: Knob Goblin Steroids (204 adventures remaining)

Oops, I underestimated the effect of muscle day and the food I ate. Oh well, I'll see if I can't take the Cyrpt on already. probably not, but it's worth a go.

3 adventures - The Defiled Cranny - acquired item: ghuol egg (201 adventures remaining)
7 adventures - The Defiled Niche - acquired items: lihc eye, lihc face (194 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury - acquired item: Knob Goblin elite pants (191 adventures remaining)
7 adventures - The Defiled Niche - acquired item: lihc eye (184 adventures remaining)

Out of meat again, grr. Time to go back to the Lab again [insert further Eminem lyrics here], and farm some more meat/MP restores. I hate adventuring at my limit.

12 adventures - Knob Goblin Laboratory - acquired items: Knob Goblin superseltzer (2), scrumptious reagent (3), Knob Goblin seltzer (3), Knob Goblin steroids (172 adventures remaining)
7 adventures - The Defiled Alcove - acquired items: cranberries (3), dead guy's watch, loose teeth (165 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - The Defiled Niche (164 adventures remaining)
4 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury (160 adventures remaining)
6 adventures - The Defiled Niche - acquired items: lihc eye (2) (154 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - The Defiled Nook (153 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury - acquired item: beans (150 adventures remaining)
4 adventures - The Defiled Nook - acquired items: smart skull, loose teeth (146 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury (143 adventures remaining)
6 adventures - The Defiled Nook - acquired items: skeleton bone, smart skull (137 adventures remaining)

Finally, after being beaten up countless times and losing all my meat at least once, I've beate all four of the minibosses. Unfortunately, I only got one skeleton bone, so I'm gonna have to use the same one for my skeleton key and my bone rattle, but at least I got one. Training to level 8, I'm gonna go collect pixels. I don't have many shore trips yet, so I likely won't be farming pixel when I get beaten up from the mines, so I'd better do it now. But first, a quick meat/MP restore gathering trip to the lab we know and love.

9 adventures - Knob Goblin Laboratory - acquired items: Knob Goblin seltzer (2), Knob Goblin steroids (128 adventures remaining)
23 adventures - 8-Bit Realm - acquired items: green pixel (13), black pixel (12), blue pixel (10), red pixel (11), white pixel (11) (105 adventures remaining)
The Crackpot Mystic - acquired items: red pixel potion (4), white pixel (3)
12 adventures - 8-Bit Realm - acquired items: red pixel (9), white pixel (7), black pixel (6), blue pixel (8), green pixel (4) (93 adventures remaining)
The Crackpot Mystic - acquired items: white pixel (9), digital key

Brilliant, got all my pixels already, and a fair amount of training. I've got a tiny way to level 8 though, so it's back to the lab o get those las few points, a little meat and maybe an mp estore or two, then on to McLargeHuge soon as I hit level 8.

6 adventures - Knob Goblin Laboratory - achieved level 8, acquired items: Knob Goblin seltzer, Knob Goblin superseltzer, scrumtious reagent (87 adventures remaining)
6 adventures - Itznotyerzitz Mine (81 adventures remaining)

At this point, I'm at 1 HP and I can't use any more Medicinal Herbs, since my spleen is about to burst, so I'll save the rest of my adventures for tomorrow. Which means I have an ocean motion to be drinking...

Drank ocean motion - gained 13 adventures (94 adventures remaining)

See ya tomorrow again.

I got a good feeling about today, for some reason. Maybe it's the freaky dream I had, or maybe it's just that yesterday went well (for me, at least). But as usual, it's time to eat. I won't drink yet, as I'll most likely be getting Liver of Steel today, so I'll save drinking until then.

4 adventures - cooking - acquired items: gnocchetti di Nietzsche (2) (50 adventures remaining)
Ate 2 gnocchetti di Nietzsche - gained 27, 25 adventures (102 adventures remaining)
7 adventures - The Dark Elbow of the Woods - acquired items: hot wing, Imp Ale, flaming crutch, cast, eldritch butterknife (95 adventures remaining)
16 adventures - The Dark Neck of the Woods - acquired items: Imp Ale (5), ruby W, wussiness potion (2), hellion cube, hot wing (79 adventures remaining)

And I'm out of meat. I'll see if I can handle the Lab yet, since the MP restorers there come in handy too, as well as the reagents, if I get any.

10 adventures - Knob Goblin Laboratory - acquired items: Knob Goblin seltzer, scrumptious reagent (2) (69 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - The Shore, moxie trip - acquired item: cast (66 adventures remaining)
11 adventures - Knob Goblin Laboratory - acquired items: Knob Goblin seltzer (5), scrumptious reagent (55 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - The Dark Neck of the Woods - acquired items: hot wing, dodecagram (52 adventures remaining)
The Deep Fat Friars' Gate - acquired skill: Liver of Steel
Drank 6 Infinitesimal IPAs, shot of orange schnapps - gained 7, 3, 6, 6, 4, 6, 3 adventures (87 adventures remaining)

Hooray, got liver and a bunch more adventures. I was going to make myself a spicy bean burrito earlier, to fill those last 3 fullness, but it seems I stupidly sold my wads of dough yesterday. Since it's clover day today, and I'm low on reagent food resources anyway, I'm gonna farm a couple of clovers and get some grab-bags. Hopefully I'll find at least one wad in there. But first, since drinking from the brewery ruined my meat count, I'm gonna hit the lab. Again.

10 adventures - Knob Goblin Laboratory - acquired items: Knob Goblin superseltzer (2), Knob Goblin love potion, Knob Goblin seltzer (3), scrumptious reagent, Knob Goblin steroids (77 adventures remaining)
4 adventures - The Sewer - acquired items: worthless knick-knack, mariachi pants, scroll of turtle summoning, worthless trinket (73 adventures remaining)
The Hermitage - acquired items: ten-leaf clover (2)
2 adventures - Cobb's Knob Kitchens - acquired items: Knob Kitchen grab-bag (2) (71 adventures remaining)
Used 2 Knob Kitchen grab-bags - acquired items: spices (2), wad of dough (3), knob sausage (3)
2 adventures - cooking - acquired item: spicy bean burrito (69 adventures remaining)
Ate spicy bean burrito - gained 10 adventures (79 adventures remaining)

Nice one, made a "profit" of 2 adventures, heh. Well, not much to do now but train for level 7, and beat the Goblin King. I think I'll go beat his ass down now, if I can.

1 adventure - Knob Goblin King's Chamber - acquired items: dense meat stack (2), Crown of the Goblin King (78 adventures remaining)

And I just remembered that I forgot to do today's Daily Dungeon. Guess I'd better get on with it.

8 adventures - Daily Dungeon - acquired item: Jarlsberg's earring (70 adventures remaining)

ARGH! After getting massive lag as I go through the dungeon, to get this is just annoying. Oh well, now it's time to train to level 7, except I should probably save adventures for muscle day tomorrow. So I'll just have my last drink for the day, considering the lag.

Drank ocean motion - gained 14 adventures (84 adventures remaining)

See yas!

Okay, so I had this really weird dream last night, and I remember it. I don't often remember my dreams, so I figured I'd better write it down. An actual real Livejournal entry!

So I was in London. I don't know how I got there, but from the rest of the dream I assume I got there on a bus (which is weird, I'll explain later). So I look at my watch and see that it's about 10am, which is really early for me, and I'm like "wow it's early, there's plenty of the day to go". So I walk down this street (at least one building on which I recognised) and come across this hotel, I think, and I sit down in this lounge area.

Next thing I know, my jacket's gone, and because you have no sense of logic in a dream, I thought nothing of it. I went to get up and leave, and my friend is running down these stairs towards me. I didn't remember my friend being in London at all, but hey. So I ask him where he found my jacket and he says "You checked it in the cloakroom when we got here, remember?" And I'm like "Nooo..." and he says "You don't remember the huge flood yesterday?"

I look at my watch (since it has the day of the month on it): the time is completely different (I think it was about 2 in the afternoon), and the date is... the 1000th!? Still, for some reason I think that it's the next day from that, and my friend tells me about how we were running down this street trying to get into buildings while London's flooding. I have this vision, or a memory or something, of banging on locked doors begging to be let into these places... anyway, since he has my jacket and it's the next day and everything, we decide to go home.

So we go to the bus stop, which is weird (as I said earlier) because I always take the train to London and back. So the bus stop looks exactly like the one at home, and I go to the ticket counter and remember that I have this return ticket. Which is useless because it's the next day, even if I don't remember the flood at all, so I have to buy a new ticket. And I ask the lady what time the next bus is, and she says it's at something like 3 in the morning, which is ridiculous, then she realises there's actually one in half an hour.

Then I woke up.

And that's my weird freaky dream. Woo!

Alright, I decided to ascend as a Turtle Tamer. Everything seems right for it; there are muscle days coming up, I need Empathy, and I don't have a skullcap.

Ascension info

Ascending from: Hardcore teetotaller Pastamancer
Ascending to: Hardcore nopath Turtle Tamer
Ascended with familiar: 20-pound Cheshire Bat
Skill taken: Leash of Linguini
Sign taken: Packrat

I've already got my letter from King Ralph and opened it, for my teetotaller tattoo, 3 pates, goodies sack and solitaire, and autosold my 5 gems (3 hamethysts and 2 baconstones, if I recall). So, I'd better get on and eat my patés already...

Ate 3 Retenez L'Herbe Patés - achieved level 3, gained 14, 17, 16 adventures (127 adventures remaining)

Alright, now first thing's first... get me a rock 'n' roll legend and buff myself with Madrigal. Soon as I get the untinker, I can switch between it and a turtleslinger too, even better. So, let's get going!

7 adventures - The Sewer - acquired items: disco ball (2), stolen accordion, worthless trinket, disco mask, spices, worthless gewgaw (120 adventures remaining)
The Hermitage - acquired items: ten-leaf clover, hot buttered roll
1 adventure - The Casino, Money Making Game - acquired item: big rock (119 adventures remaining)

And now to level up my ADDemon and get my cheshire bat's equip. Nothing new.

10 adventures - The Cake-Shaped Arena - acquired item: smile-sharpening stone (109 adventures remaining)

Now that's done, I won't be using Leash straight off. It's simply too expensive, in MP terms, for now. Instead, I'll just do the mosquito and tavern quests, as normal.

1 adventure - The Spooky Forest - acquired item: mosquito larva (108 adventures remaining)
9 adventures - The Typical Tavern - achieved level 4, acquired items: ice-cold beer, rat whisker (7), rat appendix (2) (99 adventures remaining)

Now, I feel like going for the Baron, and I've found him, but I still have 10 adventures of Madrigal to get through. So in the meantime, I'll hit the Gnoll, see if I can't get some meatcar parts and the screwdriver.

10 adventures - Degrassi Gnoll - acquired items: spring (2), sprocket (2), cog, ice-cold beer (2), rusty screwdriver, tires, gnoll teeth, bugbear beanie, Degrassi Gnoll shopping list (note: Gnollish toolboxes not listed, however items within are) (89 adventures remaining)
2 adventures - The Typical Tavern - acquired items: Baron Von Ratsworth's monocle, ocean motion (3), shiny ring (87 adventures remaining)

Brilliant, got my monocle and my shiny ring already. Now I still have 2 adventures of beaten up, but I need to get myself some sweet rims anyway, so I'll adventure in the sewer for a trinket, then it's back to the Gnoll for an empty meat tank.

4 adventures - The Sewer - acquired items: helmet turtle, stolen accordion, seal-clubbing club, worthless knick-knack (83 adventures remaining)
The Hermitage - acquired item: sweet rims
4 adventures - Degrassi Gnoll - acquired items: Knoll mushroom (2), skewer, sprocket, cog, empty meat tank (note: Gnollish toolboxes not listed, however items within are) (79 adventures remaining)

Got myself a meatcar already, great. Now I can get to the Gnomad camp, possibly the most important place this ascension thanks to the drinks served there. And today's special isn't bad, dry martini. It's a moxie drink, which is always cool, and gives more adventures than the IPA, for the same drunkenness. Shame that I've not got much meat, but that'll surely be remedied by the end of the day, so I'll have drunk my lot. For now, let's drink what I can afford, then head off to the Bat Hole to start on the Boss Bat quest.

Drank 3 dry martinis - gained 6, 9, 9 adventures (103 adventures remaining)
2 adventures - The Bat Hole Entrance - acquired items: batgut, bat wing, Pine-Fresh air freshener (101 adventures remaining)
13 adventures - Guano Junction - acquired items: baseball (3), sonar-in-a-biscuit (3), briefcase (2), bat guano (2), batgut, wad of dough, broken skull (88 adventures remaining)
Drank dry martini, ice-cold beer - gained 7, 1 adventures (96 adventures remaining)

Now, I'm level 4 and need to train up a little. Since the temporal rift is open, I'll see if I can do a little training at the battlefield. If I can take on the cola war soldiers, they give a good amount of stats, to get to level 5 and food goodness. But first I gotta get a uniform.

15 aventures - The Cola Wars Battlefield - achieved level 5, acquired items: Cloaca-Cola helmet, Cloaca-Cola fatigues (81 adventures remaining)

Shame, I kept getting the choice adventures I'd already had, so I levelled up without getting the outfit. Oh well, At least now I can grab some clovers and get some food for the day. Yay reagent pasta!

6 adventures - The Sewer - acquired items: worthless trinket, mariachi pants (2), ravioli hat, worthless gewgaw (2) (75 adventures remaining)
The Hermitage - acquired items: ten-leaf clover (3)
3 adventures - Cobb's Knob Kitchens - acquired items: Knob Kitchen grab-bag (3) (72 adventures remaining)
Used 3 Knob Kitchen grab-bags - acquired items: spices (5), wad of dough, Knob sausage, Knob mushroom (4)

Unfortunately, I don't have enough meat to get myself an oven yet, so I'll just train in the treasury a little. If I can't survive there, I'll move back to the Kitchens, which double benefits in that I can get more mushrooms and sausages there, hopefully.

4 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury - acquired item: Cobb's Knob lab key (68 adventures remaining)

Gah, beaten up by fumbling and being hit in the same round. I've got enough meat for an oven now, but I don't have enough meat for MP restores to get the noodles and reagent needed to cook my one reagent dish for today (remember, I ate three patés). So I'll hunt for another clover, I guess, and get another grab-bag.

2 adventures - The Sewer - acquired items: saucepan, scroll of turtle summoning (66 adventures remaining)

Well, no point getting a trinket now, I wouldn't have an adventure to use it in the Kitchens. However, I can go open my guild: since after the first test, my muscle will jump back to un-beaten-up level, so I can open right up to the store. Cheap healing for me!

4 adventures - The Brothehood of the Smackdown - unlocked skills traine, Smacketeria (62 adventres remaining)
5 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury - acquired item: meat stack (57 adventures remaining)
2 adventures - cooking - acquired item: spaghetti with Skullheads (55 adventures remaining)
Ate spaghetti with Skullheads - gained 26 adventures (81 adventures remaining)

Right, now I've got decent stats and have eaten and drunk for the day, I'm gonna go for the Boss Bat. I can't get the Britches, but getting him out of the way, and getting the dense meat stack, will be helpful.

1 adventure - The Boss Bat's Lair - acquired items: dense meat stack, Boss Bat bandana (80 adventures remaining)

Great, got another thousand meat, just when I needed it. Now I've got nothing to really raise the meat for, I'm going to go for the Harem girl outfit, and perfume. Get that much of that quest done on day 1, I figure.

22 adventures - Cobb's Knob Harem - acquired items: Knob Goblin perfume (2), Knob Goblin harem veil, Knob Goblin harem pants (58 adventures remaining)

Alrighty, that took far too long but now I still have a lot of the day left. I get the feeling that I'd be owned in the lab, so I'll train at the Treasury some more, and maybe get some clovers and get a couple more grab bags. I likely won't get to level 6 today, so it would be worth it.

35 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury - acquired items: Knob Goblin elite helm, meat stack (2), Knob Goblin visor, beans (2), Knob Goblin elite polearm, Knob Goblin elite pants (23 adventures remaining)

At this point, I have 25 buffed mysticality. I'm gonna take a chance at today's Daily Dungeon, see if I can't get a head start on it. If the forum thread is to be believed, there's an early myst test, so I hope 25 myst is enough to get through!

8 adventures - The Daily Dungeon - acquired item: Jarlsberg's key (15 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury - achieved level 6, acquired item: meat stack (12 adventures remaining)

Great, got to level 6. Wasn't sure if I would. I'm hardly going to complete the Friars in 12 turns, but it's worth a good shot. Better than sitting in the treasury.

4 adventures - The Dark Heart of the Woods - acquired items: hot wing (4), Imp Ale, box of birthday candles (8 adventures remaining)
8 adventures - The Dark Elbow of the Woods - acquired items: Imp Ale (9), leather mask (2), flaming crutch, cast (2) (0 adventures remaining)
Drank Imp Ale - gained 1 adventure (1 adventure remaining)
1 adventure - The Dark Elbow of the Woods - acquired item: hot wing (0 adventures remaining)
Drank ocean motion - gained 14 adventures (14 adventures remaining, overdrunk)

Ah well, it was worth a try but it was a bit of a vain hope. I'll definitely get liver tomorrow, though, so there will be much rejoicing. Catch ya then.

Well, I'll hopefully finally ascend today. Chatbot says there's clovers, and it's not long until Muscle day, both of which make it a great day to ascend, so I'll try my darndest, and nothing should be able to get in my way. But first, the usual: cooking and eating.

6 adventures - cooking - acquired items: gnocchetti di Nietzsche (2), spaghetti with Skullheads (34 adventures remaining)
Ate 2 gnocchetti di Nietzsche, spaghetti with Skullheads, Spam Witch sammich - gained 28, 23, 26, 2 adventures (113 adventures remaining)

Now, yesterday I had just hit the third level of the tower and came up against a Flaming Samurai, so I need to go get me some of them throwing stars.

1 adventure - The Lair of the Ninja Snowmen - acquired item: frigid ninja stars (112 adventures remaining
1 adventure - Tower level 3 - Flaming Samurai (111 adventures remaining)

1 adventure - Tower level 4 - Fickle Finger of F8 (110 adventures remaining)

1 adventure - Tower level 5 - Vicious Easel (109 adventures remaining)

Argh, I said I always have the worst end-of-run luck. Out of four monsters that I didn't have the item for, I just got all four. Oh well, time to farm a disease.

2 adventures - The "Fun" House - acquired items: big red clown nose, bottle of whiskey, disease, box (107 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - Tower level 5 - Vicious Easel (106 adventures remaining)

1 adventure - Tower level 6 - Enraged Cow (105 adventures remaining)

And now I'm... 13 moxie substat from hitting the Chamber, grr. Guess I'd better hit the castle or something for the little extra.

3 adventures - The Castle in the Sky - acquired items: plot hole, thin black candle, Warm Subject gift certificate, furry fur (102 adventures remaining)

Hacked door code - 658 (I use that door code cracker on that one website now. I used to do it myself, but can't be bothered now.)
Mirror shard'd fireball

1 adventure - The Sorceress' Chamber - Shadow Pastamancer (101 adventures remaining)

Familiar 1 - Saber-Toothed Lime
10 adventures - Arena with levitating potato - acquired item: many-eyed glasses (91 adventures remaining)
Defeated familiar 1

Familiar 2 - Levitating Potato
10 adventures - Arena with barrrnacle - acquired item: sucky decal (81 adventures remaining)
Defeated familiar 2

Alright, time for my usual losing a few times against the sorceress, and pickle training. As per last run, I've got the adventures to spare, so why not.

10 adventures - The Sorceress' Chamber - lost deliberately (71 adventures remaining)
22 adventures - Arena with ghost pickle on a stick - acquired items: skewer-mounted razor blade (2) (49 adventures remaining)

Right, so I'm back to a twenty pound pickle, with equip. After buying myself some cookbooks and Minor Ray of Something (and of course a stock of Elixirs and MMJs), I reckon it's time to take her on. For today's battle, I'll be equipping an eXtreme scarf (I've got no better hat, except the f3d0r4 which unnecessarily raises moxie), the wand, a pair of 1337 7r0uZoRZ (since they lower moxie, and are of course my collected pants) and 3 cookbooks. Let's go...

1 adventure - The Sorceress' Chamber...

Round 1 - The Sorceress
Lost initiative - She hits for 11 (91 HP remaining)
Minor Ray of Something hits for 36 - Pickle misses - She hits for 7 (84 HP remaining)
Minor Ray of Something hits for 33 - Pickle hits for 16 - She hits for 11 (73 HP remaining)
Minor Ray of Something fails - She hits for 11 (62 HP remaining)
Homeopathic Elixir heals for 18 - Pickle hits for 13 - She hits for 6 (74 HP remaining)
Minor Ray of Something fails - She misses
Minor Ray of Something hits for 33 - Pickle misses - She hits for 11 (63 HP remaining)
Homeopathic Elixir heals for 18 - Pickle hits for 14 - She hits for 5 (76 HP remaining)
Homeopathic Elixir heals for 18 - Pickle drips caustic juice - She hits for 9 (85 HP remaining)
Minor Ray of Something fails - She misses (85 HP remaining)
Minor Ray of Something hits for 30 - Pickle hits for 16 - She misses (85 HP remaining)

At this point, I've done 191 damage to her. Rather than keep hitting her, I'm gonna try to heal myself ready for the second form, and hope the pickle hits for that last little bit.

Homeopathic Elixir heals for 19 - Pickle hits for 11 (102 HP remaining)
Round 1 over

Exactly as I'd hoped, I go into the second round with full HP.

Round 2 - The Blob
Lost initiative - She heals
Minor Ray of Something hits for 29 - Pickle misses - She hits for 13 (89 HP remaining)
Minor Ray of Something hits for 32 - Pickle misses - She hits for 11 (78 HP remaining)
Minor Ray of Something hits for 38 - Pickle drips caustic juice - She hits for 17 (61 HP remaining)
Homeopathic Elixir heals for 20 - Pickle misses - She hits for 17 (64 HP remaining)
Homeopathic Elixir heals for 18 - Pickle drips caustic juice - She hits for 13 (69 HP remaining)
Homeopathic Elixir fails - She hits for 12 (57 HP remaining)
Homeopathic Elixir fails - She heals (57 HP remaining)
Homeopathic Elixir heals for 18 - Pickle misses - She hits for 10 (65 HP remaining)
Homeopathic Elixir heals for 18 - Pickle misses - She heals (83 HP remaining)
Minor Ray of Something hits for 38 - Pickle hits for 15 - She hits for 10 (73 HP remaining)
Minor Ray of Something hits for 29 - Pickle hits for 13 - She hits for 14 (59 HP remaining)
Homeopathic Elixir heals for 18 - Pickle misses - She hits for 10 (67 HP remaining)
Minor Ray of Something hits for 33 - Pickle hits for 16 - She hits for 12 (55 HP remaining)
Minor Ray of Something hits for 37 - Pickle drips caustic juice - She hits for 13 (42 HP remaining)
Homeopathic Elixir heals for 18 - Pickle hits for 17 - She hits for 11 (49 HP remaining)
Homeopathic Elixir fails - She hits for 10 (39 HP remaining)
Homeopathic Elixir heals for 18 - Pickle hits for 13 (57 HP remaining)
Round 2 over

Well, that was an unexpected but welcome surprise. She had less HP after those three heals than I thought she would. Well, thanks to the pickle, I've won again. And now the formality:

Round 3 - The Sausage
Auto-win, of course.

And now to open my packages! Possibly my favourite part of beating the sorceress and freeing the King. I've only gotten 2 this ascension, but I know at least one of them is pretty good. In my first package, I've gotten 10 million meat, from Bashy, in trade for a comfy blanket. I'm gonna use this meat to buy myself 99 red balloons from someone, and get that trophy. Yay!
In my second package, I've got a Dyspepsi-Cola, from Hojo Hominygrits. For saying something before him in chat. It's some kinda gimmick he has, I guess, heh.

Well, I'll be ascending later, the details of which I'll detail as I go through with it. For now, I'm off!

Today's going to be a day of farming: stars and lines, pixels, and finally stat points (and maybe a clover for a grab-bag). I might get some of the tower done today, but I doubt I'll ascend until tomorrow. Anyhow, time to do the usual cooking and eating, starting at 40 adventures...

6 adventures - cooking - acquired items: spaghetti with Skullheads (3) (34 adventures remaining)
Ate 3 spaghetti with Skullheads, Spam Witch sammich - gained 29, 22, 28, 3 adventures (116 adventures remaining)
8 adventures - The Daily Dungeon - acquired item: Boris's key (108 adventures remaining)

Hooray, got my last DD key. Now to get the other two keys, Star and Pixel. This'll probably take the rest of the day, but I'll be using my ADDemon rather than my cheshire bat so I'll get there sooner. At this point, I know I'll need stats from the castle anyway, my moxie's incredibly low.

10 adventures - The Hole in the Sky - acquired items: star (7), line (5), star chart (98 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - 8-Bit Realm - acquired items: green pixel, black pixel (3), blue pixel, red pixel, white pixel (95 adventures remaining) (side-note: this isn't due to being beaten up, it's because all I need are astronomers. Since I just got one, it's a lot easier to use 3 adventures here, since I'm less likely to get another one for 3 adventures, game mechanics and all. Plus, I need pixels.)
2 adventures - The Hole in the Sky - acquired items: star (2) (93 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - 8-Bit Realm - acquired items: black pixel (5), blue pixel, white pixel (2), red pixel (90 adventures remaining) (this time, I did get beaten up, heh)
The Crackpot Mystic - acquired items: red pixel potion (4)
4 adventures - The Hole in the Sky - acquired items: line (2), star (2) (86 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - 8-Bit Realm - acquired items: blue pixel (3), green pixel (4), white pixel, black pixel (83 adventures remaining)
5 adventures - The Hole in the Sky - acquired items: line, star (4), star chart (78 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - 8-Bit Realm - acquired items: white pixel (3), blue pixel (3), red pixel (3) (75 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - The Hole in the Sky - acquired item: star chart (74 adventures remaining)
6 adventures - 8-Bit Realm - acquired items: green pixel, black pixel (4), red pixel (2), white pixel (5), blue pixel (3) (68 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - The Castle in the Sky - acquired items: Angry Farmer candy, Mick's IcyVapoHotness Rub, giant needle, plot hole, chaos butterfly, thin black candle, Warm Subject gift certificate (65 adventures remaining) (side-note: Now I'm doing the same as earlier, but since I only really want Bloopers I'm going back to the castle to train for 3 adventures after each rather than going for pixels after each astronomer. It makes sense, really!)
5 adventures - 8-Bit Realm - acquired items: red pixel (4), white pixel (5), black pixel, green pixel (3), blue pixel (60 adventures remaining)
The Crackpot Mystic - acquired item: Digital key

Great, gotten all of my keys. Now I just need to train to level 11 and I can take on the Lair. If I find the Wheel while I'm training in the Castle, I'll set it to moxie, since my black stats are 68/102/64, so I need that more than the myst boost.

21 adventures - The Castle in the Sky - achieved level 11, acquired items: heavy D (2), original G, thin black candle (2), chaos butterfly, Mick's IcyVapoHotness Rub (3), giant needle (2), Angry Farmer candy (3), awful poetry journal, plot hole (2), probability potion (2), furry fur, disturbing fanfic, procrastination potion (2) (39 adventures remaining)

Alright, time to take on the Lair. I should have everything I need, except for a few stat points that I'm going to have to make up on the tower guardians. And of course, now I'm level 11 I can buy Leash of Linguini, which is what I'd been planning on keeping this run. Now, I'm not sure how I'll commentate the lair... I guess the first parts, up to and including the mariachis, I can't say anything about (especially since I'll be using a recorded macro there) but everything from the Maze onwards I can. So I will.

Oh, apart from having to go get banjo strings. Grr.

3 adventures - The Sewer - acquired items: seal-clubbing club, spices, worthless knick-knack (36 adventures remaining)
The Hermitage - acquired item: banjo strings
7 adventures - The Hedge Maze - acquired items: hedge maze puzzle (5) (29 adventures remaining)

1 adventure - Tower level 1 - Pretty Fly (28 adventures remaining)
14 adventures - The Sleazy Back Alley - acquired items: bum cheek (3), Mad Train wine (4), dirty hobo gloves, moxie weed (2), the Slug Lord's map, spider web (14 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - Tower level 1 - Pretty Fly (13 adventures remaining)

Well, now I know I have zero chance of ascending today, so I'm gonna grab a clover and get a grab-bag for tomorrow's food.

1 adventure - The Sewer - acquired items: worthless gewgaw (12 adventures remaining)
The Hermitage - acquired item: ten-leaf clover
1 adventure - Cobb's Knob Kitchens - acquired item: Knob Kitchen grab-bag (11 adventures remaining)
Used Knob Kitchen grab-bag - acquired items: spices (3), Knob mushroom
2 adventures - The Sewer - acquired items: stolen accordion, worthless trinket (9 adventures remaining)
The hermitage - acquired item: ten-leaf clover
1 adventure - Cobb's Knob Kitchens - acquired item: Knob Kitchen grab-bag (8 adventures remaining)
Used Knob Kitchen grab-bag - acquired items: wad of dough, Knob sausage, Knob Mushroom

Well, I may as well see what else I get on the tower. You never know, I could get through it, with the 8 tower monster items I have. Not that I'd have enough moxie by the end of it, most likely, to hit the chamber. Bah.

1 adventure - Tower level 2 - Electron Submarine (7 adventures remaining)

Then again, I might get another one I don't have the item for. GRR!

5 adventures - The Penultimate Fantasy Airship - acquired items: cocoa eggshell fragment, soft green echo eyedrop antidote, phonics down, scroll of drastic healing, photoprotoneutron torpedo (2 adventres remaining)
1 adventure - Tower level 2 - Electron Submarine (1 adventure remaining)
1 adventure - Tower level 3 - Flaming Samurai (0 adventures remaining)

Haha, and the third tower level is the third guardian I don't have the item for. Gr, I'll have to ascend tomorrow. Well, I did say to myself it'd be a 9 day run, so I can't be that mad. And I know I always have the worst end-of-run luck, as evidenced by the fourteen adventures it took to even get a spider to show up. I'll post again tomorrow.

Well, I've hardly got 200 adventures saved up for myst day (I have 134, to be exact) but I've got more than a bog-standard 40. Anyhow, it's time for the usual cooking and eating, the Daily Dungeon, then on to levelling at the peak, to level 9.

6 adventures - cooking - acquired items: gnocchetti di Nietzsche, spaghetti with Skullheads (2) (128 adventures remaining)
Ate gnocchetti di Nietzsche, 2 spaghetti with Skullheads - gained 28, 26, 21 adventures (203 adventures remaining)
11 adventures - Daily Dungeon - acquired item: Jarlsberg's key (192 adventures remaining)

Damn, got hit by the sauerkraut trap (the one that hits for 3 adventures) and got an item I already have. That key there is even more useless than the Jarlsberg's earring I got the other day. Total waste today... ah well. On to peak-farming.

16 adventures - The Icy Peak - achieved level 9, acquired items: penguin skin (7), yeti fur (3) (176 adventures remaining)

Now I've hit level 9, I'll go through the strange leaflet (including the sekrit code) and use the chest of the Bonerdagon, for the stats and meat. Hopefully I'll be able to get myself a 31337 scroll today aswell, and use the stat script. Now that I have the Valley quest, I have to go get the dictionary from the pirate's cove and then hit the valley to get those scrolls. Unfortunately, I completely forgot to get dingy planks, so I have to get a trinket first aswell. Bah.

1 adventures - The Sewer - acquired item: worthless gewgaw (175 adventures remaining)
The Hermitage - acquired item: dingy planks
10 adventures - The Obligatory Pirate's Cove - acquired items: stuffed shoulder parrot, eyepatch, crowbarrr, bottle of rum, swashbuckling pants (165 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - The Obligatory Pirate's Cove (in disguise) - acquired item: abridged dictionary (164 adventures remaining)
The Untinker's Cottage - acquired items: bridge, dictionary
70 adventures - The Valley beyond the Orc Chasm - acquired items: 30669 scroll (2), Dyspepsi-Cola (11), 33398 scroll (3), Spam Witch sammich (4), pr0n legs (9), Trollhouse cookies (4), flaming talons, lowercase n (8), meat vortex (12), f3d0r4 (3), Tasty Fun Good rice candy (4), 334 scroll (4), 1337 7r0uZ0RZ (94 adventures remaining)
31337 scroll - acquired items: hermit script, stat script
64735 scroll - acquired items: drywall axe, dictionary

Well, it took far too long to get 4 334 scrolls, but I have the excuse that I was looking for flaming talons in the process. Shame I only got one set, but that's the way life goes sometimes. Anyhow, after using my 31337 and 64735 scrolls, it's on to Peak levelling again. Sigh.

17 adventures - The Icy Peak - achieved level 10, acquired items: penguin skin (6), yeti fur (7) (77 adventures remaining)
Ate Spam Witch sammich - gained 3 adventures (80 adventures remaining)

Alrighty, on to the Airship, and hopefully the giants. I could do with more damage, I get the awful feeling I won't be able to take the giants out with one LTS, but I'll just have to heal a lot. I have plenty of meat for MMJs, and the airship might be nice and give me good drop rates on the healing stuff, so I shouldn't have *too* bad luck...

1 adventure - The Beanbat Chamber - acquired item: enchanted bean (79 adventures remaining)
25 adventures - The Penultimate Fantasy Airship - acquired items: soft green echo eyedrop antidote (4), cocoa eggshell fragment (6), tiny house (6), scroll of drastic healing (3), Tissue Paper Immateria, titanium assault umbrella, metallic A, super-spikey hair gel (2), phonics down, Tin Foil Immateria, Gauze Immateria, ridiculously huge sword, Plastic Wrap Immateria, S.O.C.K., giant castle map (note that I have listed what was in any Penultimate Fantasy chests, but not the chests themselves) (54 adventures remaining)
34 adventures - The Castle in the Sky - acquired items: thin black candle (4), Warm Subject gift certificate (4), Angry Farmer candy (2), giant needle (2), plot hole (3), chaos butterfly (3), probability potion (4), heavy D, procrastination potion (2), Mick's IcyVapoHotness Rub, furry fur, disturbing fanfic, awful poetry journal, original G (20 adventures remaining)
giant castle map - acquired item: quantum egg

Great, I still have 20 adventures and I'm up to the Hole in the Sky. Unfortunately, I have to dequip my melee plus gear to get the extra HP and moxie I'll need to survive the critters: without my badass belt and shiny ring, I only have 87 max HP and 86 moxie, with both Madrigal and Butt-rock hair. I'll keep my monocle though, since that's what I need most for the Hole. I'll also switch to my ADDemon, since at this point it's more important to get those stars and lines than it is to get stats. I can always go back to the Castle for them.

20 adventures - The Hole in the Sky - acquired items: star (14), line (15), (0 adventures remaining)

Well, that's me done for the day. It's costing me a metric buttload of MP to keep up the healing against the HitS monsters, and I'm gonna need some moxie once I'm out, since that's below-average, so I still have some work. I reckon this'll be a 9 day run, rather than 8. Not bad, considering the really poor start I had. See ya tomorrow!

I shan't be doing much today, in a effort to save turns for tomorrow. However, I do need to do the daily dungeon, and since it's a clover day I need to grab a few more grab bags; I'm lucky, since today's my last day's supply of Knob Sausages. So, since I just told you all I'm gonna be doing today, I better get around to it.
Oh, and since it's not Feast of Boris like I was hoping, I won't be eating the cake today like I planned this entire run for. GRR!

6 adventures - cooking - acquired items: spaghetti with Skullheads (3) (34 adventures remaining)
Ate 3 spaghetti with Skullheads and 2 hot wings - gained 28, 25, 22, 1, 1 adventures (111 adventures remaining)
7 adventures - Daily Dungeon - acquired item: Jarlsberg's key (104 adventures remaining)
7 adventures - The Sewer - acquired items: worthless gewgaw (2), worthless knick-knack, saucepan (2), seal-clubbing club, pasta spoon (97 adventures remaining)
The Hermitage - acquired items: ten-leaf clover (3)
3 adventures - Cobb's Knob Kitchens - acquired items: Knob Kitchen grab-bag (3) (94 adventures remaining)
Used 3 Knob Kitchen grab-bags - acquired items: spices (2), wad of dough (2), Knob sausage (5), Knob mushroom

What a crappy haul. Ah well, see ya tomorrow, when I should have slightly more to report.

Hey all. After taking time off to, well, sleep some, I'm back for another day! So, let's get straight on with cooking and eating, as usual. Starting from the standard 40 adventures, I'm gonna cook and eat 3 more spaghetti with Skullheads, then slog through the Daily Dungeon, as per usual.

6 adventures - cooking - acquired items: spaghetti with Skullheads (3) (34 adventures remaining)
Ate 3 spaghetti with Skullheads - gained 24, 28, 25 adventures (111 adventures remaining)
8 adventures - Daily Dungeon - acquired item: Jarlsberg's earring (103 adventures remaining)

Argh, I hate getting the earring. So useless! Anyhow, I was in the middle of mining when I ran out of adventures yesterday, so it's back to the mines I go, then if I don't get beaten up, on to goats and the eXtreme slope, to complete the Tr4pz0r quest (I really need to get elemental saucesphere sometime).

1 adventure - Itznotyerzitz Mine (in disguise) (102 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - 8-Bit Realm - acquired items: blue pixel, white pixel (2), black pixel (3), red pixel (99 adventures remaining)
4 adventures - Itznotyerzitz Mine (in disguise) - acquired items: chrome ore (2) (95 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - 8-bit Realm - acquired items: green pixel (4), black pixel (92 adventures remaining)
1 adventures - Itznotyerzitz Mine (in disguise) - acquired item: linoleum ore (91 adventures remaining)
The L33t Tr4pz0r - acquired item: linoleum staff
39 adventures - The Goatlet - acquired items: goat cheese (5), bottle of whiskey (2), glass of goat's milk (2) (52 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - 8-bit Realm - acquired items: red pixel (2), white pixel (3), black pixe, blue pixell (49 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - The Goatlet - acquired item: goat cheese (48 adventures remaining)
The L33t Tr4pz0r - acquired items: goat cheese pizza (3)
13 adventures - The eXtreme Slope - acquired items: snowboarder pants, gr8ps, sk8board, eXtreme scarf, t8r tots, eXtreme mittens (35 adventures remaining)
The L33t Tr4pz0r - acquired items: yeti fur (5)

Well, it took me longer than expected, but I'm done there. I'll save the gr8ps for if I ever need to make a potion from them, but I do still have 2 fullness I just remembered...

Ate 2 hot wings - gained 1, 1 adventures (37 adventures remaining)

Right, now I need to do my usual levelling up to level 9 trick: hitting the damn peak. I'm told that the Penguins on the past peak aren't as strong as the Yetis on the present one, which is a shame since the temporal rift to them is still open. Ah well, I can't imagine hitting level 9 today, so I'll just have to do it on friday (I think I'll save tomorrow's adventures for myst day).

37 adventures - The Icy Peak - acquired items: yeti fur (15), penguin skin (10) (0 adventures remaining)

And all done for another day. Not much to report, most of it was spent farming for damn goat cheese. I probably won't post much tomorrow either, since I'm going to save my adventures for mysticality day. but I need to do that Daily Dungeon, so at least I'll be able to post on that.

See y'all!

Alright, I have a good feeling about today. I'm going to get my shillelagh equipped, which means that I'll be defeating the Goblin King and drastically changing my strategy for the run. Until now I've been playing as a moxie class, thanks to madrigal and my RnR Legend. Now I'll be able to play as a muscle class, thanks to having the shillelagh, the LTS/Eye combo, and MMJs to keep my MP up. Also, I'll be making my first DD run today, I didn't yesterday since I found out there was a late muscle test that I wouldn't have been able to get past. But, as always, first thing's first, getting myself fed. Starting, of course, at 40 adventures:

6 adventures - cooking - acquired items: Hell ramen, gnocchetti di Nietzsche, spaghetti with Skullheads (37 adventures remaining)
Ate Hell ramen, gnocchetti di Nietzsche, spaghetti with Skullheads - gained 27, 27, 26 adventures (114 adventures remaining)

This also got my muscle to that magical 30, so I equipped my shillelagh and said goodbye to the moxie way of life. That done, I'm going to tackle today's Daily Dungeon before I forget: I've checked the thread, and there shouldn't be anything beyond what I can handle.

8 adventures - Daily Dungeon - acquired item: Sneaky Pete's key (106 adventures remaining)

Great, the first of three keys. Now I've gotten my shillelagh equipped, I'm going to recharge my HP and MP, and charge in on the Goblin King. Even though I have the Mind Control, I'm just going to leave it low so I get the Crown. I don't want either the cape or the balls, even if they are cool, so I'll just take the Crown.

1 adventure - The Goblin King's Chamber - acquired items: dense meat stack (2), Crown of the Goblin King (105 adventures remaining)

One hit kill, I expeted no less with my trusty shillelagh. Now I'm gonna see if I can take on the cyrpt, since it's the logical place for me to try levelling now I have a new strategy. I'll probably get my ass kicked, but it's worth a try.

2 adventures - The Defiled Niche - acquired items: lihc eye, lihc face (103 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - The Defiled Cranny (102 adventures remaining)
5 adventures - The Defiled Nook - acquired items: loose teeth (2), skeleton bone (2), smart skull (97 adventures remaining)
4 adventures - The Defiled Alcove - acquired items: cranberries (2), loose teeth (93 adventures remaining)

Well, that was quick. Admittedly, I had to LTS everything in there, but when you have MMJs and a decent supply of meat, the cost becomes irrelevant. I'm going to do something crazy and try for the Bonerdagon already. I'm glad I have a lihc face... I just have to hope I can get enough damage in with LTS before he kills me. Stupid skill blocking. Oh well, here goes nothing...

1 adventure - The Haert of the Cyrpt - items acquired: skull of the Bonerdagon, chest of the Bonerdagon (92 adventures remaining)

Oh, shit. I forgot to set the MCD to give me the vertebra. Well, at least I can make myself a badass belt already, and I have the chest ready for myst day. I guess all there is to do now is train some more, until level 8. The strongest monsters I can face, at this point, are probably those in the Menagerie level 3. It's a bit foolish to go in there, especially setting the MCD to 11 (hey, let's go all the way!) but I'll see if I can do it. No harm in trying: if I get beaten up, I can farm for pixels, which is long overdue.

68 adventures - Menagerie Level 3 - achieved level 8, acquired items: bottle of rum (3), bottle of tequila (4), bottle of gin (4), bottle of vodka (3), bottle of whiskey (4), boxed wine (3) (24 adventures remaining)

Well, that took long enough, but I'm there. I've decided that I'm not likely to get any Spam Witch sammiches today, so I'm just gonna take my last 2 fullness with another couple of hot wings and head off to the Mine.

Ate 2 hot wings - gained 1, 2 adventures (27 adventures remaining)
13 adventures - Itznotyerzitz Mine - acquired items: miner's pants (2), miner's helmet, 7-Foot Dwarven mattock (14 adventures remaining)
7 adventures - Itznotyerzitz Mine (In Disguise) - acquired items: linoleum ore (2), asbestos ore (2) (7 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - 8-Bit Realm - acquired items: blue pixel (4), white pixel, black pixel, red pixel (3) (4 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - Itznotyerzitz Mine (In Disguise) (3 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - 8-Bit Realm - acquired items: green pixel (4), white pixel, black pixel, blue pixel (3) (0 adventures remaining)

Grr, I would get repeated cave-ins after getting two lino ores. Oh well, I'll most likely finish the Tr4pz0r quest off tomorrow, which means I'll get to train on yetis with my shillelagh... and so for the third time this run I'll have to mindlessly train, heh. At least I can train on stuff that's at a high level, unlike what I'd be doing if I didn't have the shillelagh, or LTS/Eye. Well, I guess I'll see y'all tomorrow.

PS: Wow, this is an early post, for me.

Finally, a clover day! Though I haven't been struck poor or anything, not having any clovers until today has meant that I haven't been able to make a Rock 'n' Roll Legend. So, naturally, I'm spending my first turn (of 51, since I saved 11 in yesterday's lag) getting me a rock.

The Hermitage - acquired items: ten-leaf clover, hot buttered roll
1 adventure - Money Making Game - acquired item: big rock (50 adventures remaining)

Right, now I have the legend my Madrigal will be better than ever. And now that it's clover day, I figure I can go after a few grab-bags for reagent food, which means I need a couple more clovers. To the sewer!

8 adventures - The Sewer - acquired items: disco mask, saucepan, mariachi pants (2), worthless gewgaw (2), pasta spoon, worthless knick-knack (42 adventures remaining)
The Hermitage - acquired items: ten-leaf clover (3)
3 adventures - Cobb's Knob Kitchens - acquired items: Knob Kitchen grab-bag (3) (39 adventures remaining)
Used 3 Knob Kitchen grab-bags - acquired items: spices (3), wad of dough, Knob sausage (7), Knob mushroom (3)
4 adventures - cooking - acquired items: gnocchetti di Nietzsche (2) (35 adventures remaining)
Ate 2 gnocchetti di Nietzsches - gained 23, 29 adventures (87 adventures remaining)

Right, now that that's over, I've made a nice profit on adventures, and myst to boot. Now I've gotta get 6000 meat for Springy Fusilli, since that's part of my long-term combat strategy this run (combined with the LTS-eye combo and my shillelagh). I've decided that even though it's a clover day, it's probably easier, and gives more stats, to just adventure normally in the treasury until I have the meat I need. I'll also take into account the fact that I need a few extra hundred meat to fund my MMJs, since I'll be relying nearly completely on my MP this run.

3 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury (84 adventures remaining)
(I beat myself up with a fumble. Argh!)
3 adventures - The Shore, myst trip - acquired item: dinghy plans (81 adventures remaining)
14 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury (67 adventures remaining)

It's at this point that I suddenly remember that I've forgotten to do something: go get the Untinker's screwdriver. So I better do that now, while I'm thinking of it.

1 adventure - Degrassi Knoll - item acquired: rusty screwdriver (66 adventures remaining)
8 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury - items acquired: meat stack (2) (58 adventures remaining)

By the way, after I got the screwdriver, I untinkered my meatcar (since I don't need it any more, having taken 5 shore trips and gotten a fence) and made a Gnollish autoplunger, for LTS goodness. I was going to use it to swap between the RnR legend and a pasta of peril, but I have no use for the 7 myst and the autoplunger is more powerful (at 60 rather than 50 power). So now I've gone and bought Springy Fusilli and buffed myself a little, time to try out these Friars monsters for size!

4 adventures - The Dark Heart of the Woods - items acquired: hot wing (2), Imp Ale, box of birthday candles (54 adventures remaining)
8 adventures - The Dark Elbow of the Woods - items acquired: hot wing (2), Imp Ale (5), eldritch butterknife (46 adventures remaining)
13 adventures - The Dark Neck of the Woods - items acquired: dodecagram, hot wing (2), Imp Ale (3), wussiness potion (2) (33 adventures remaining)

And so while ooking for a W, I finally got beaten up by a Hellion, thanks to a below-average hit with the LTS. I'm also low on meat, so rather than farming for pixels like I normally would, I guess I'd better go and hit the Treasury. Incidentally, I got the dodecagram after three adventures, but I'm not going to complete the quest until I have a W.

3 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury - items acquired: meat stack (30 adventures remaining)
10 adventures - The Dark Neck of the Woods - items acquired: hellion cube (2), hot wing (2), ruby W, wussiness potion (20 adventures remaining)
The Deep Fat Friars' Gate - acquired Stomach of Steel
2 adventures - cooking - acquired item: Hell ramen (18 adventures remaining)
Ate Hell ramen, 2 hot wings - gained 24, 1, 1 adventures (44 adventures remaining)

Great, I've finally gotten Stomach, and everything else I need from the Friars. Since I've got nothing better to do, I think that trying the Cobb's Knob Lab, at least until I can equip my Shillelagh, would be a good idea. As I believe I said yesterday, the combination of meat, MP restorers and reagents there makes for good times, as well as the stats being higher than in the Treasury.

10 adventures - Knob Goblin Laboratory - acquired items: scrumptious reagent (2), Knob Goblin seltzer, Knob Goblin superseltzer (34 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury - acquired item: beans (31 adventures remaining)
31 adventures - Knob Goblin Laboratory - achieved level 7, acquired items: Knob Goblin seltzer (8), scrumptious reagent (3), Knob Goblin steroids (5), Knob Goblin love potion (5), Knob Goblin superseltzer (0 adventures remaining)

Though I reached level 7, I'm not going to start the Cyrpt quest until I reach 30 muscle and can equip my shillelagh. I'll also do the Goblin King at that point, he's been waiting too long. All in all, it's been a pretty boring day, though I did manage to get Stomach of Steel, I didn't do much else. Such is the boredom of having to level to be able to do anything. It's strange, but levelling in the Kingdom isn't quite as boring as levelling in any console RPG (to me at least). I gues when you're so invested in a game, with the community and everything, the boring click-fest is just a sidetrack of the chat.

See y'all tomorrow!

PS: I'm gonna start tagging these, and go back and tag the old ones. Only with path and class, since I'll be in hardcore for a while, but it might come in useful to someone, someday.

You know, writing this as I play my adventures is both a good and a bad thing. It's a good thing because it means I get the details down straight off. It's a bad thing because it means this journal's very much stream-of-consciousness, and I don't make very much of a commentary between my informationy bits. I guess I'll try to clump things together a little, not have to go say something after every last line of information: if I grab the air freshener, for example, then I do't have to comment that I got it and I'll be moving on to Guano Junction, I'll just have that information there. Hopefully that'll make this easier to read.

So, yesterday I decided to save adventures for moxie day (ie today), while on the quest to get a pine-fresh air freshener, just after opening my guild. So I start today with 67 adventures, and going off to fight some batty buggers.

7 adventures - The Bat Hole Entrance - acquired items: batgut, Pine-Fresh air freshener (60 adventures remaining)
14 adventures - Guano Junction - achieved level 5, acquired items: baseball, sonar-in-a-biscuit (4), wad of dough (2), bat wing, broken skull (46 adventures remaining)

Nice! I got to level 5, got my broken skull and got a 4th sonar on the same skullbat. Now I've no more reason to be in the junction, I'll spend a couple of adventures... err, in the Knoll again. I got beaten up *sigh*.

2 adventures - Degrassi Knoll - acquired items: tires, spring, sprocket, cog (44 adventures remaning)

Okay, now I only spent a couple of adventures there, rather than getting all my meatcar parts, because I want to eat. And I want to eat good food. Now I've hit level 5, I can go to the Cobb's Knob Kitchens and get some mushrooms or knob sausages to make reagent pastas with.

9 adventures - Cobb's Knob Kitchens - acquired items: tomato (3), dry noodles, spices, Cobb's Knob lab key, Knob sausage (35 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - Degrassi Knoll - acquired items: Gnollish toolbox (2) (32 adventures remaining)
Opened Gnollish toolboxes - acquired items: spring, sprocket, cog, empty meat tank (2)
5 adventures - Cobb's Knob Kitchens - acquired items: wad of dough, tomato (2), Knob sausage (27 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - The League of Chef-Magi - opened Gouda's Grimoire and Grocery (26 adventures remaining)
4 adventures - cooking - acquired items: spaghetti with Skullheads (2) (22 adventures remaining)
Ate 2 spaghetti with Skullheads - gained 25, 29 adventures (76 adventures remaining)

Mm-mm, yummy food. I doubt I can get to level 6 today and get stomach, so I'll probably finish off with a spicy enchanted bean burrito, since I have the spices handy. I've also got the stuff ready for the meatcar, so I made that while you weren't looking. There's not much left to do, but I'm gonna take a shot at the Boss Bat. I have Lunging thrust-smack so it shouldn't be too hard. I need a little meat first, though, to get me some MMJs, so I'll do a few treasury turns. If I can survive.

1 adventure - Cobb's Knob Treasury - acquired an effect: beaten up (75 adventures remaining)

...or not. It's at this point that I suddenly remember that I have some booze sitting around I could have autosold, so I'll sell that and some other miscellaneous stuff for 704 meat, spend 3 turns getting rid of beaten up, heal up and get to that Boss bat!

3 adventures - Degrassi Knoll - acquired items: Gnollish plunger, ice-cold beer (2) (72 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - The Boss Bat's Lair - acquired items: dense meat stack, Boss Bat bandana, Boss Bat britches (71 adventures remaining)

Hooray! Now I've got a bit more moxie, I think I should be able to handle the treasury, and get me a decent amount of meat. It's also about the only thing I can do right now, levelling up for the harem/lab/King.

24 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury - acquired items: Knob Goblin elite pants, meat stack (3), beans (47 adventures remaining)
9 adventures - Cobb's Knob Harem - acquired items: Knob Goblin harem veil (2), Knob Goblin perfume, Knob Goblin harem pants (38 adventures remaining)

Okay, so I have everything for the King already. However, I'm not gonna try to take him on today, not just yet. I'm gonna make that spicy enchanted bean burrito I mentioned earlier, since I have nearly no chance of making level 6 today and getting Stomach of Steel.

1 adventure - The Beanbat Chamber - acquired item: enchanted bean (37 adventures remaining)
2 adventures - cooking - acquired item: spicy enchanted bean burrito (35 adventures remaining)
Ate spicy enchanted bean burrito - gained 9 adventures (44 adventures remaining)

I'm bored of just hitting the treasury, and figure that reagents and MP restores from the lab, aswell as increased stats, would be a good thing so I'm going to try to fight there. It's risky, since the Very Mad scientist is rather strong compared to his regularly Mad compatriots, but I'll give it a good go.

1 adventure - Cobb's Knob Laboratory - acquired an effect: beaten up (43 adventures remaining)

Damn Very Mad scientist. Though I think I might have lost my Madrigal again while cooking, and not noticed for a third time today. I need some kind of script that keeps me updated on the status of my buffs... gr.

3 adventures - The Shore, moxie trip (40 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - Cobb's Knob Laboratory - acquired an effect: beaten up (37 adventures remaining)
3 adventures - The Shore, moxie trip - acquired an item: barbed-wire fence (34 adventures remaining)

Well, that was a waste, even with madrigal and hair spray. Looks like I'm not quite moxious enough to take them on just yet. At least I got a barbed-wire fence from the shore, hooray! I guess I've gotta hit the treasury until I am. Sigh.

11 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury - acquired items: meat stack (2), beans (23 adventures remaining)
(guess what? I forgot about my Madrigal again. Four times today, now.
3 adventures - The Shore, myst trip - acquired items: ice cold six-pack (2) (20 adventures remaining)
1 adventure - Cobb's Knob Treasury (19 adventures remaining)
(I am the dumbest person in the Kingdom. This time, I completely forgot to either heal up or put on Madrigal. St00pid!)
3 adventures - The Shore, myst trip - acquired items: little paper umbrella (3) (16 adventures remaining)
5 adventures - Cobb's Knob Treasury - achieved level 6, acquired items: meat stack (2), beans (2) (11 adventures remaining)

At this point, it's getting close to rollover and lag is hell. I got to level 6, which is what I wanted today, so i can leave myself 11 adventures for tomorrow. Ocerall, I've had an unsatisfying day, and been beaten up for forgetting my Madrigal more often than I'd have liked. or even than I usually do. I hope tomorrow goes better. Much better.

Yeah, so I changed my plan. Since it's gonna be Feast of Boris next Thursday, and I have access to the 3-tier wedding cake in the gift shop, I figured I may as well grab myself the cake trophy, and get the teetotaller tattoo. I figure I'll go nopath after that, to take advantage of the pates, then into boozetafarian and back to nopath, for the no-food tattoo. All for the sake of one silly trophy (oh, and some tattoos).

I also figure that the more skills I get before I go oxy again, the better. Especially those familiar ones, hitting the tower familiars is always a bitch. So yeah, it'll be a while before I go oxy again. I'll have to deal with *gasp* eating! And drinking! That said, time to jump in the hole...

Ascension info
Ascending from: Hardcore nopath Seal Clubber
Ascending to: Hardcore teetotaller Pastamancer
Ascended with familiar: 20-pound Cheshire Bat
Skill taken: Lunging thrust-smack
Sign taken: Platypus

11/19/05 06:01:50 PM - Welcome back to the Kingdom of Loathing. Noob.

First thing's first, of course, get the letter from King Ralph. Mmm, sweet sweet shillelagh. In the goodies sack, I got 3 hamethyst and 2 porquoise. Which I promptly sold, since I consider the jewelry to be a waste of meat and adventures. I mean, come on, 3 adventures for each? No thanks.

So, with 2500 meat in my pocket, it's time to go get my smile stone, and in the process level up my poor demon.

10 adventures - arena, mainly with Attention-Deficit Demon but finishing with Cheshire Bat - acquired item: smile-sharpening stone (70 adventures remaining)

That done, it's time to get to level 2. No need to do the artist quest, that would just waste an adventure finding the pail, so we jump straight to the Pantry

3 adventures - The Haunted Pantry - achieved level 2, acquired item: tomato (67 adventures remaining)

Hooray, time to visit the council and get myself a quest! Finding them a mosquito should be easy... right?

10 adventures - The Spooky Forest - acquired items: bar skin, spooky sapling, mosquito larva (57 adventures remaining)

Ouch, took me too long to get that entirely. Well at least I got a fair few myst from the 4 warwelfs I fought in a row. Bah. Well, back to training.
I firmly believe that since there's such a huge amount of non-combat adventures in the forest, not all of them for your main stat by far, it's easier to adventure in your main stat's initial area to get to level 3. So it's back to the Pantry, hopefully to pick up a can lid for the tower, too.

11 adventures - The Haunted Pantry - achieved level 3, acquired items: the Dolphin King's map, magicalness-in-a-can, razor-sharp can lid (2) (46 adventures remaining)

Alright, we got to level 3 and got not one, but 2 can lids. Might need to zap one of those into a spider web in the tower, if I'm unlucky. Now, at this point I'd go for the tavern quest, were it not for the unfortunate event that I need an accordion. But before I go accordion farming, I'm gonna have to make myself some crappy food: a boring spaghetti. I doubt I'll get to level 5 today and get to make reagent dishes, so I'll take what I can get.

1 adventure - Cooking - acquired item: boring spaghetti (45 adventures remaining
Ate boring spaghetti - gained 11 adventures (56 adventures remaining)

Right, now I got me some more adventures, time to go farming for an accordion. Why? Because I won't be able to take the rats on without Madrigal, that's why. And I need an accordion to play it. Hopefully it'll come out pretty soon, since I'm hardly rich.

7 adventures - The Sewer - acquired items: saucepan (3), worthless trinket, worthless knick-knack, worthless gewgaw, stolen accordion (49 adventures remaining)

Not too bad, and I got 3 trinkets for when I need them. Now I'll quickly play myself a little madrigal and See if I can kick some rat ass. I'll buy myself a sweet ninja sword and go for the Baron, I reckon. I also bought myself a slingshot, to make use of my Madgrigal-inflated moxie and actually hit these rat bastards.

23 adventures - The Tavern Cellar - achieved level 4, acquired items: rat whisker (20), rat appendix (3), ice-cold fotie, ice-cold beer, bottle of rum (26 adventures remaining)

Okay, so I hit level 4 before I found the Baron. I'm still gonna find that bugger, I want his damn monocle! I've only a few squares left to search to find him anyway. So, on with the search.

2 adventures - The Tavern Cellar - acquired item: rat whisker (24 adventures remaining)

I found the Baron on the first adventure after hitting level 4, but still had Madrigal. No way am I going for him then, but now I know where he is I know where to go with max HP, MP and my sword equipped. So let's go to it!
Not getting the jump results in beatings, though. However, this is potentially a good thing, having lower stats from beaten up is going to help, so I'm just gonna heal up and go right back in each time.

4 adventures - The Tavern Cellar - acquired item: Baron von Ratsworth's monocle (20 adventures remaining)
Turned off the rat faucet - acquired items: ducha de oro (3), shiny ring

Now that that's over, I still have a few adventures of beaten up. However, with Madrigal I still have decent moxie, so I'm gonna go ahead and try to fight at the Bat Hole entryway, with my brand new shiny ring and monocle equipped...
Unfortunately, I get a bog-standard "you should not be here" message, since beaten up has lowered my myst, and I can't even get it back up with my self-buff and the shiny ring. So I'll have to adventure for 2 adventures at Degrassi Knoll. Yes, that opens at exactly the same time but lets you in at a lower main stat. Mind-boggling.

2 adventures - Degrassi Knoll - acquired items: Degrassi Knoll shopping list, bugbear beanie (18 adventures remaining)

Okay, now to get on with a real quest, the Bat Hole. My moxie, according to this spreadsheet, is about enough right now to, uh... hit/get hit about 50% of the time. Blah.

4 adventures - The Bat Hole Entryway - acquired items: batgut, bat guano, bat wing (14 adventures remaining)

Today I learned an important lesson: keep watch of your buffs. I ran out of Moxious Madrigal, and got my ass kicked swiftly. Until then, I guess I can adventure at Degrassi Knoll again.

3 adventures - Degrassi Knoll - acquired items: Gnollish toolbox, ice-cold beer (2) (11 adventures remaining)

Alright, a toolbox, let's open it... a spring and a sprocket. Argh, disappointing.
At this point, I've realised I'm running low on adventures. However, I remember that Chez Snootée is having a good day today, and is serving enchanted bean burritos: just right for a myst class. Time to gorge myself:

Ate 4 enchanted bean burritos - gained 5, 8, 4, 5 adventures (33 adventures remaining)

I got a couple of myst points from those too, which is always good for a pastamancer. One more, I reckon, and I'll be getting my guild open, or at least the skills part. Not that I have any meat, but it's good to get that open on a non-stat day.
Anyhow, it's back to the Bat Hole I go, in search of the elusive pine-fresh air freshener. Oh, and by the way it seems my spreadsheet was an overestimate. I should crank the MCD up, but I don't want to take any chances on my first day.

3 adventures - The Bat Hole - achieved 20 buffed mysticality, acquired items: bat guano, batgut (30 adventures remaining)

Okay, so I hit 20 myst. Time to see if I can open my guild.

3 adventures - The League of Chef-Magi - opened skill training area (27 adventures remaining)

Indeed I can. Unfortunately, I can only siot and stare uselessly at the treasures within, as I'm pretty much far too poor to afford any. Not that anything's worth getting right now.

And I reckon I'm gonna save the rest of my turns for moxie day, tomorrow. I can't gain any more from eating, so there's no need to adventure for food ingredients: I think I'm pretty much done for the day. Considering this is my first teetotaller run, and I'm saving 27 adventures for tomorrow, I don't think I've done that badly.

Not much to do today, since I was a whole TWO ADVENTURES from ascending yesterday. So, of course, I levelled up my Barrrnacle... gaining only 4 experience from the first adventure, heh. Lucky I have more than two adventures today!

2 adventures - arena, barrrnacle, got item - lead necklace (44 adventures)
Sorceress' Chamber, defeated 2nd familiar

Then I decided to give myself more flexibility by drinking. After all, I've got nothing to lose, so I checked out the brewery. Old-fashioned is the special, not the best drink in the world but since it's a TPS base, it's better than the IPA. Downing 6 of those and an Imp Ale got me up to 92 adventures: plenty for my nefarious plotting needs.

MicroMicroBrewery, old-fashioned - 7, 5, 7, 10, 9, 8 adventures (90 adventures)
Inventory, Imp Ale - 2 adventures (92 adventures)
Didn't bother eating: I'm gonna ascend soon

So, then I trained up my pickle. Instead of going for 15 pounds as usual, I decided to get to 20 pounds, including the equip and my empathy, to give it that little extra damage in the battle. After all, I had adventures to kill!

10 adventures - arena, pickle, got item - skewer-mounted razor blade (82 adventures)
12 adventures - arena, pickle, got to 20 lbs (70 adventures)

And now the controversial part. Since I'm a believer in the "sorceress blocks you less after you lose to her some" theory, I usually try to lose to her a few times before taking her on for real. For this, I stuck on my Bitten so I wouldn't have familiar help, and just plinked away while she killed me a few times. Nothing new.

10 adventures - Sorceress' Chamber, repeated loss (60 adventures)

And so I went in for the kill. Equipping my 20 pound pickle, the wand, a mohawk wig, snowboarding pants, a flaming talons, an acid-squirting flower and an enchanted brass knuckles (I had really bad valley luck, only one talons) and I went face to face. Here's a log of how it went down, round by round, for those interested. I'll stick occasional thought processes in in italics.

Form 1 - Naughty!
Lost initiative - flower hits for 3, she hits for 11 (HP 151)
Thrust-smack hits for 32, pickle hit for 12, she heals (HP 151)
Thrust-smack hits for 32, pickle drips juice, she misses (HP 151)
Thrust-smack hits for 36, pickle drips juice, she shimmers (HP 151)
Thrust-smack hits for 34, pickle misses, flower hits for 5, she hits for 10 (HP 141)
Thrust-smack hits for 36, pickle misses, flower hits for 4, she hits for 11 (HP 130)
Yes, that's 5 thrust-smacks in a row that connected. At this point, I decided after looking at this log and not wanting to push my luck or MP, that regular attacks should probably be used from here on out...
Attack hits for 22, pickle hits for 17, flower hits for 3, she hits for 10 (HP 120)
She gone down!
...and I only needed one. Yay!

Form 2 - Icky!
Lost initiative - flower hits for 5, she hits for 13 (HP 107)
Thrust-smack hits for 36, pickle misses, flower hits for 4, she hits for 15 (HP 92)
I'd decided before the battle that I'd start spamming elixirs below 100 HP. I just hit that line, so it was time to start.
Elixir fails, flower hits for 5, she hits for 15 (HP 77)
Elixir fails, flower hits for 4, she hits for 14 (HP 63)
Elixir heals 18, pickle drips juice, flower hits for 3, she hits for 14 (HP 67)
Elixir fails, flower hits for 5, she hits for 13 (HP 54)
Elixir fails, flower hits for 4, she hits for 14 (HP 40)
Elixir heals 18, pickle hits for 12, flower hits for 5, she hits for 13 (HP 45)
Elixir heals 18, pickle hits for 16, flower hits for 3, she hits for 14 (HP 49)
Elixir heals 18, pickle hits for 11, flower hits for 3, she hits for 13 (HP 54)
Elixir heals 19, pickle misses, flower hits for 5, she hits for 14 (HP 59)
Elixir heals 19, pickle drips juice, flower hits for 4, she hits for 12 (HP 66)
Elixir fails, flower hits for 3, she hits for 12 (HP 54)
At this point I was pretty annoyed. Elixirs were either failing, or healing barely more than she was hitting me for.
Elixir heals 19, pickle drips juice, she misses (HP 73)
Of course, the second she missed, I took my chance. Screw spamming elixirs at less than 100 HP, this might be the only chance I get!
Thrust-smack hits for 38, pickle misses, flower hits for 5, she hits for 11 (HP 62)
Thrust-smack hits for 44, pickle misses (HP 62)
She gone down!
And so it only took a couple more thrust-smacks. I could have taken her down so much easier than spamming those elixirs.

Form 3 - Yummy!
She gone down!
Do I need to say much else about this form?

Notice that not one thrust-smack failed. Although I had a fair few elixirs fail to make up for it, I'd say that the losing a few times to decrease her block rate was certainly effective. Or I could have had the RNG smile on me. Either way, I'm free to free to King and ascend again now, right back into Oxycore. I've only got two Oxycore left to do, pastamancer and accordion thief, and I promised myself I'd leave AT to last. So it looks like I'm gonna be a pastamancer, a couple of days after myst day and on a non-clover day to boot. Ah well.

Oh, and of course, I had a package or two to open. The first, from Esjay, was a nice early (or late, depending on how you look at it) Crimbo present: a candy cane, gingerbread bugbear and a bow. Of course, they'll be going straight into Hagnk's, but you never know what I might do with them. The second was a plain brown wrapper with a few 1337 7r0uZ0RZ in from Lilac, for my collection.

Everyone's been really kind to me in giving me 7r0uZ0RZ for my collection. I've been nowhere near as kind to others in their collecting endeavours, and I should really make the effort sometime. Any of you with a collection, let me know and I'll put some effort into giving you what I can scrounge up toward it.

Thanks for reading through this ramble, if you did. Leave any comments on the format, and I'll see if I can improve (I hardly think that I'm gonna get it perfect first time).

Yep, I finally made myself a LiveJournal. EMO EMO CUT CUT! More seriously, I'll be (hopefully) keeping a daily track of my ascension adventures here. Sometimes it will have rather boring spots, for example saving for stat days on my oxycore runs, but I'll keep things as interesting as possible.

I'm not sure whether to make it an all-data journal or actually try to have some sort of conversational tone. I'll probably end up with a mix, generally blabbing about my daily adventures and inserting points of data whenever they're relevant. I hope to make it readable but informative, unlike some journals which can just be data logs, and incredibly boring.

So, let's go on about today, which I didn't log but then I wasn't planning on logging this ascension. I missed out on a 7 day hardcore run (mind that I'm hardly experienced in nopath runs, and don't have a mass of skills) by two adventures today. TWO! And as usual, it was the Daily Dungeon that screwed me over. Had I gotten a Jarlsberg's key today instead of a Jarlsberg's earring, I wouldn't have needed to go get myself a wand of polymorph. Urgh, the adventure cost for that was a bitch, about 30 or so adventures if I recall, so that was definitely the biggest drain on the day. Having only one familiar skill doesn't help either, as right now I'm still taking 20 adventures to train each familiar.

In the end, I'm sitting here with my Barrrnacle at 19 pounds, 5 kills from 20 pounds, and then after hitting the potato I'll be beating the Bitch. Again.

We'll see how I do tomorrow!
